2026 Suicide Prevention Month Communications Toolkit
September is Suicide Prevention Month. The Department of War (DoW) is committed to addressing this critical public health crisis. This year’s suicide prevention month marks the conclusion of the 2024-2026 campaign theme, Joining Your Fight: Connect to Protect. The 2027-2029 theme will be unveiled in late fall 2026.
Joining Your Fight: Connect to Protect calls on the greater military community to focus on early detection, strengthen cohesion, and empower leaders to safeguard the Total Force. It encourages service members to seek help, reduce stigma around mental health, advocate for lethal means safety, and increase awareness and use of resources for suicide prevention across the Department.
To support these efforts, the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO) created the 2026 Suicide Prevention Month Communications Toolkit. This resource offers materials and suggestions to help installations, units, commands, and partner organizations execute communication initiatives during Suicide Prevention Month and year-round.
